Disconnector

Disconnectors are used to completely isolate a circuit from the electrical network. Their main purpose is to ensure safe disconnection so that no dangerous voltage remains on the disconnected parts.

Disconnectors are typically used in switchgear to allow maintenance or inspections to be carried out safely. They must only be operated when there is no load.

Features

  • Safe Isolation: Guarantees complete galvanic separation from the network.
  • Not for Load Switching: Operated only under no-load conditions.
  • High Visibility: Often with a clearly recognizable switch position (open/closed).
  • Mechanical Interlocking: Frequently equipped with additional mechanisms to prevent incorrect operation.

Applications

  • Maintenance and Inspection: For safely shutting down systems during service work.
  • Switchgear: In low-voltage networks to isolate lines.
  • Industrial Plants: For machines and production lines to avoid hazards.
